Your experience will differ depending on which model you obtain. For example, some models lock the jaw in place while others allow you some opening and closing movement. Some prevent you from breathing via your mouth while others feature small breathing apertures. Some feel fairly rigid while others have some give and are generally considered more comfortable to wear.

Despite all the above differences, most stop snoring mouthpieces are effective for most people. The only real way to know is to try one out.

Previously it was only possible to obtain one via your dentist who would do a professional fitting. These versions do not necessarily give a better fit or even last longer than home use devices. I recommend saving a few hundred bucks and just purchasing a home use model.

Also, some people report that they simply cannot persist with the use of a stop snoring mouthpiece. They find it very difficult to sleep with a device in their mouth and/or worry about swallowing it in their sleep. While such a fear is unfounded, it is probably better to seek an alternative in such cases.

There are many alternatives available to the snorer such as special pillows, pills, nose strips and even injections. However, because the stop snoring mouthpiece is a relatively cheap investment, it is generally worth trying one out early on to see if it will work for you and whether or not you need to seek any of the other alternative stop snoring products available to prevent snoring.
