Silence Your Snore with Diet

Posted by admin On July - 24 - 2010

There are a lot of different types of snoring that people do on a regular basis. There are also a lot of different reasons why people snore at night. Some people simply have a difficult time breathing because of allergies or problems with their sinuses. Other people, however, have something that is a lot more serious than snoring alone. As a matter of fact, this is a condition that can even cause death in some instances. It is known as sleep apnea and if you are suffering from sleep apnea, you are not getting a good night sleep.

What is the number one reason why people snore? It is because they are carrying around additional weight. If you find that you are snoring regularly, you might recognize the fact that it gets worse whenever you gain a little bit of weight. By losing a few pounds, you may actually lose your snore altogether or at least silence it to a certain extent. That is because you are taking some of the pressure off of your airway that is restricted by the fat that you are carrying around. This will help you to breathe easier and as a consequence, to stop snoring.

It’s one thing to say that you need to lose weight in order to stop snoring, it’s quite another thing for you to actually do it. Why is that the case? Because whenever we are snoring, we are interrupting our sleep every night and not allowing ourselves to get into the deep sleep patterns that keep us rested. Believe it or not, not getting a good night sleep can cause us to gain weight which will make us snore more. This becomes a vicious circle and the less sleep we get, the more we weigh which causes us to get less sleep.

That is why you need to be determined to lose 10% of your body weight in order to silence the snoring. Perhaps it is only 10 or 20 pounds and this can easily be done in about six to eight weeks. Although it is going to take a lot of determination on your part at first in order to lose this weight, once the snoring stops you will find that it becomes much easier. The exercise and diet that you get in order to lose the weight will also help you to sleep better, assisting you in your weight-loss efforts.

Is Your Hair Making You Snore at Night?

Posted by admin On July - 17 - 2010

One of the main reasons why we snore at night is because we have a problem with allergies. Most of us realize that we are allergic to something, usually something that is in the air around our home. During the day, we are subjected to various types of allergens that include everything from tree pollen to dog dander. The one place that we don’t want to be subjected to these allergens is whenever we enter into the bedroom. Why is that the case?

Whenever we sleep, we naturally breathe deeper and this can pull any allergens that are in your bedroom more deeply into your sinuses and lungs. Even those of us who have a very light allergy and are able to deal with it without much trouble will recognize that we are more affected during the night than we are during the day. If you find that you are snoring regularly then you might need to do something in order to get these allergens out of your bedroom. Believe it or not, there may be a culprit in this case that you have not considered before.

Our hair works like a magnet for pollen and during the day, all of the pollen that comes into contact with our hair is going to stick in it to a certain extent. If you have long hair, you can be breathing the pollen all through the night directly from your hair but even if your hair is short, it will transfer to the pillow and then right into your lungs. That is why it’s important to make sure that you wash your hair thoroughly every night before going to bed. It may seem like a simple thing but this is certainly something that you should do and can make a large difference in how much you snore.

Other allergens should also be removed from the bedroom in one way or another. Do not put cologne on before going to bed and trying to avoid any type of scented soaps or shampoos. If the dog sleeps in the bedroom with you, make other arrangements so that you are not breathing the dander through the night. Above all, get a high quality air filter for your bedroom so that you are breathing clean air while you are sleeping. By taking these steps and reducing the amount of allergens that are in your bedroom, you will have the best chance to have a snore free night.

Breathing Exercises for Deeper Sleep

Posted by admin On July - 11 - 2010

Although it may sound somewhat simplistic, breathing has a lot to do with why we snore. Although there certainly are a lot of other things that go hand in hand with it, if we are breathing incorrectly then we are going to snore more and louder. For example, if we tend to breathe through our mouths whenever we are sleeping at night, this can cause us to snore quite a bit. If we are able to breathe through our nose, we might be able to silence that snoring to a certain extent. One of the easiest ways for us to correct the situation is to do some breathing exercises during the day.

The first thing that you need to do is to find out if you are breathing properly or not, which is a fairly simple thing to do. Whenever you are relaxing, breathe naturally and take a look at your stomach. If you’re breathing properly, your stomach is going to go in and out because of the movement of your diaphragm. This means that you are breathing deeply and you’re allowing your lungs to fill up with air. If your stomach does not move whenever you are breathing, it means you are breathing shallow and this is a common problem for many of us.

In order to overcome a problem with shallow breathing and even to increase our ability to breathe deeply if we already breathe deeply, we need to exercise this area of our body. One way to do this is by getting some aerobic activity as this will cause us to breathe deeply without really thinking about it. Another way to do it, however, is to think about breathing and to spend a few minutes, several times a day doing some deep breathing exercises. Begin by filling your lungs entirely with air, allowing your diaphragm to do the work. Force the air out of your lungs quickly in comparison with how you brought it in. Do this for a while without hyperventilating and you will become stronger in the way that you breathe.

Although this may not help to overcome your snoring problem completely, many people have seen great benefits by breathing like this on a regular basis. It will help to silence your snoring by allowing you to breathe easier and this will help you to get a better night’s sleep.

The Secret Connection between Dehydration and Snoring

Posted by admin On July - 5 - 2010

The human body is an amazing thing and whenever it is in perfect balance, we enjoy very good health. Whenever we are born, our body is typically in this balance but shortly after we are born, the imbalances begin to happen. One of the more serious problems that most of us deal with on a regular basis is that of dehydration. Since our body is made up of almost 90% or more water, it is reasonable to think that a lack of water in our body is going to cause a lot of serious health problems. One problem that it may be causing in you is snoring.

There really is only one way for you to find out if your snoring problem is coming about as a result of dehydration. That is to drink additional water on a daily basis along with some salt in order to hydrate yourself properly. This entire process is usually referred to as the water cure and it is a free way for you to be able to improve your health considerably. If you do the water cure properly, you will begin to notice changes in your health to the positive within just a few short days and your snoring should subside or calm down considerably.

The way that you hydrate yourself properly is by drinking half of your body weight every day in ounces of water. For example, if you are a 200 pound man then you should be drinking 100 ounces of water throughout the day. It’s not enough simply to drink water, however, as that much water will typically just flush us out, taking many of the essential minerals with it. In order to give the water an opportunity to do its work, we need to balance it out with some natural sea salt. One quarter tablespoon of salt in every quart of water is a great place to start but you may need to adjust it to your own personal levels.

After your body is hydrated properly, you should notice that your snoring is getting less and less. The real secret is to continue to drink water, even after your body is hydrated properly. That is the only way that you’re going to be able to keep yourself from snoring regularly because if you stop drinking the water, the snoring will simply come back.
