Stop Sleep Apnea and Save Your Life

A lot of people snore and some of them are perfectly happy with snoring, especially if they aren’t bothering other people with it. There may be a problem that goes beyond typical snoring, however, and it can cause a lot of difficulties for us, perhaps even death. This is what is known as sleep apnea and it is periods of time during the night whenever you’re not breathing at all. What is sleep apnea and how can you overcome the problem?

As I stated before, sleep apnea is a problem in which you stop breathing during the night. Typically, these periods last from several seconds to a minute or longer each time and may occur many times throughout the night. You might think that you are getting a great night sleep when in reality, you are never reaching deep sleep because you’re constantly waking yourself up in order to breathe. If you wake up with a dry mouth in the morning and find that you are tired during the day, perhaps even falling asleep at inappropriate times, you may have a problem with sleep apnea.

The real problem with sleep apnea is that you are depriving your body of oxygen whenever you’re sleeping. Because your air passages will totally close during this time, your body will use up all of the oxygen that it has from the previous breath and this will cause a lot of health problems for you. Some of the more serious problems that sleep apnea may cause is high blood pressure and heart disease but there are a number of different things that it may cause.

If you have a problem with sleep apnea, there are some things that you can do which may help alleviate the difficulty naturally. The first step that you should take is to lose a little bit of weight if you are carrying around any additional body fat. It may only take about 10% of your total body weight in order for you to notice a substantial difference in your sleep apnea. You will also want to cut down or quit smoking completely as this can cause sleep apnea as well. Finally, you should not be drinking alcohol before going to bed as this will complicate matters in many cases. If your sleep apnea continues to be a problem, you should seek medical advice as this could be a very serious condition.

Strengthen Your Breath and Weaken Your Snore

If you have a difficult time with snoring at night, it may be because you’re not breathing enough during the day. Most people fail to recognize the connection between these two things. The fact of the matter is, there are many different reasons why we might be snoring but if we are not breathing properly during the day and exercising this part of our body, we may have a difficult time with snoring at night. At the very least, exercising our breathing patterns during the day is going to help us with our snoring if not eliminate it entirely.

The first thing that you should do is to practice deep breathing exercises every day. Whenever you are relaxed, breathe normally and take note of how you are breathing. If you are breathing is shallow and your chest is moving in and out, you’re not breathing properly. If you are using your diaphragm and you notice that your stomach is going in and out while you are breathing, you are breathing properly. Regardless of how you breathe, shallow or deeply, you should work on consciously improving this regularly. Remember, breath is life and if you’re able to get more breath into your body, your life will improve in many different ways.

You may also want to work on improving your breathing by doing specific breathing exercises. For example, spend a few minutes several times a day breathing in very deeply through your nose and then exhaling slowly through your mouth. Not only will this help to exercise this part of your body and may reduce your snoring considerably, it will also help you to get additional oxygen which will raise your level of alertness and may actually help you to lose some weight. Schedule two or three times during the day in order to do this and you will notice some changes in how well you sleep at night.

There are also some other specific deep breathing exercises that you may want to try. Starting out slowly, however, will allow your body to acclimate to the new type of breathing that you are doing. Most people recognize differences within a day or two and sometimes immediately after starting these types of exercises. Try them for yourself and see if they don’t improve the amount and type of snoring that you do on a nightly basis.

If you have a difficult time with snoring, you may not realize that sinusitis can be one of the main causes of it. Snoring is very rarely a nasal problem and often, it is a problem with our throat in which the muscles relax and constrict our airways. If we breathe through our mouth during the night, however, this can make our snoring much worse and can even be at the root of more serious problems, such as sleep apnea. There are allergens in the air all around us and these can be especially a problem whenever we are sleeping. Because we tend to breathe more deeply whenever we are sleeping, the pollen can be forced into our sinuses and even taken in deeper than it would during the day. Having pollen in our hair or dog dander in our bedroom is going to cause a lot of problems for us so it is best if we do everything possible to get rid of these allergens from the bedroom environment.

There are plenty of natural cures for sinusitis and one of them is sure to alleviate the problem, at least to a certain extent. Once you are able to breathe through your nose easily while you’re sleeping, your snoring will naturally become less of a problem. With just a little bit of help from a jaw brace or perhaps some nasal strips, you may be able to overcome your snoring altogether at that point.

Histamines – What You Don’t Know Is Making You Snore

Most of us have heard about histamines but did you realize that they are actually a good thing? Unfortunately, we are often given antihistamines because of difficulties that they cause in our body. The fact of the matter is, histamines are released by our body for natural reasons but often they are released in numbers that cause problems for us. One of the problems that they cause is congestion, both in our lungs, throat and nose. This can have a side affect of snoring if we have a difficulty with too many histamines at night.

If you want to see evidence of histamines effect on your body, try being aware of how you feel after you eat or drink something. Often, histamines are released in such a large number because we do not have the proper chemicals to balance out the potassium and some allergens that we are taking and whenever we eat. Stop Snoring by Fixing Food Allergies

Allergies are one of the biggest problems that we have which cause snoring. Although carrying around excess weight and drinking alcohol also are two of the big problems which make us more, you would be surprised with how many times the snoring originates with allergies. When most of us think about these allergies, we tend to think about things that we breathe in through our nose during the day. Yes, these do make a difference in our lives but you cannot overlook the food allergies that you have as well.

Almost everybody has food allergies, at least to a certain extent. I know people who have food allergies to shellfish and nuts that are so serious that even taking one bite could kill them. How do they react to the problems with food allergies that they have? Their throat closes up and they have asthma like symptoms. They also tend to swell in various parts of their body. Even though most of us do not have food allergies to this extent, we may have them to the extent that they are causing us a lot of harm and making us snore.

The next time you go out to eat, make sure you are aware of the way that you feel. You may also be allergic to a lot of the foods that you eat at home without realizing it. The next time you have a difficult time and need to clear your throat after eating, stick a large pinch of salt under your tongue and chase it down with a glass of water. If the desire to clear your throat goes away after just a few moments, you have a food allergy.

Identifying and overcoming food allergies can really help us to overcome our snoring as well. Since these allergies tend to create mucus in our body and close our throat, it is easy to see why they would also cause us to snore. If you are unable to avoid the foods that you are allergic to all together, try taking some salt and water before going to bed. You might just find that you are snoring less with such a simple remedy.
